below are the various volunteer tasks/assignments for the Long
Beach Grand Cru. For the benefit of registered volunteers, detailed
responsibilities for each volunteer Tasks are provided below. The
appointment of tasks are made according to your experience and
past involvement with Grand Cru.
Competition
- Saturday and Sunday, July 18 &
19, 2009
Preparation
Dates: June 13, 20, 27, July 11 - 2009
Time: 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM (lunch included)
Location: Bantry Holdings, 301 E. Ocean Blvd., Long Beach, CA 90802
Tasks: Set up work-station tables, set wine cases on tables, open cases, identify wines and place appropriate wine entry number on bottles, pull two bottles and place in plastic carton, tape contents label on outside of carton, seal case and place in storage room. This procedure is repeated until all the cases have been processed. Requires heavy lifting.(Work descriptions are posted on pillars and handouts are available.)
Day Before Competition Event - Friday,
July 17, 2009
Time: 2:00 - 6:00 PM
Location: Long Beach Petroleum Club, 3636 Linden Ave., Long Beach, CA 90807
Tasks: Set up wine tables, computer stations and tables for
supplies.
(Volunteers for this date will be selected by the Steering Committee.)
Competition (2 Days) - Saturday and Sunday, July 18 &
19, 2009
(Volunteers must commit to both days. Need up to 64 people.)
Time: 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM (includes breakfast and lunch both
days)
Location: Long Beach Petroleum Club, 3636 Linden Ave., Long Beach, CA 90807
Positions/Tasks: Manager-Floater; Check-In Greeter; Computer Technicians/Medal Entries and Reports; Data Entry/Manual Medal Highlighting; Dishwashers/Dry & Stack; Floaters; List Coordinators; Medal Coordinators; Panel Captain; Panel Coordinators; Runners; Photographer; Understudies; Wine Attendant; Tear down work stations on Day 2 . Positions are assigned the first morning of Competition. Work descriptions/assignments are posted.

Tasting - Saturday, August 15, 2009
Preparation
Dates: July 28, 29, 30, August 4, 5, 11, 12 - 2008
Time: 5:30 PM - 9:00 PM (refreshments included)
Location: Bantry Holdings, 301 E. Ocean Blvd., Long Beach, CA 90802
Tasks: Affix labels to additional inventory of cases and
bottles of award winning wines and place in appropriate location;
wrap bottles for table decorations and separate by sponsorship
level; affix labels and ribbons to award-winning bottles; pull
wines for auction, package and decorate cases; decorate table signs;
affix labels to award-winning wine bottles and cases; decorate
goody bags; prepare and separate all items for VIP party; decorations
for outdoor area; prepare VIP/Sponsor badges and other tasks that
always come up.
Public Tasting Event Day - Saturday, August 15, 2009
Time: 10:00 AM - 10:00 PM
Location: Rainbow Lagoon, North side of Shoreline Drive (Between
Shoreline Village Drive and Linden Avenue)
Tasks: Assemble goody bags; linens on all tables; posting of signs; monitor wine inventory room; floaters; registration/auction/opportunity drawing tables' set-up and staffing; logistics and winery tables pourers; restaurant servers; raffle tickets sales; VIP guides; "Will Call" and ticket sales; stamp parking tickets; and other tasks that always come up.
Post-Event Breakdown & Clean-Up
Dates: August 18, 19, 20 and 24 - 2009
Times: 5:30 PM – 9:00 PM
Location: TBD
Tasks: Pack wines for Legal Aid inventory and create list;
organize all supplies and pack in storage containers; set up tables
and supplies for volunteer party; set up signage and clippings;
wrap volunteer awards where appropriate; clean space.
Post-Event Volunteer Party
